Wedding Vows...
3 Comments
So I am sitting in bed minding my own business and then:
Mrs B: "Why don't we re-read our wedding vows?"
Me: "Sure, if you get fat, I'll divorce you!"
Mrs B: {sound of unamused silence}
So now I am sitting on the couch minding my own business until Mrs B forgives me... I may be here for a while...
{Update: Mrs B says I can't have an Ipod touch as it wasn't in our wedding vows}
Damn the cunning woman!

Travel Photography Book is published!
0 Comments
Well its been a while coming, but finally my first book is being published. The email came through today and I should have the first copy next week. This is the first of two very different books that I am publishing or helping to publish.
First out of the gate is my travel photography book and the second is a book for the Hong Kong Dog rescue charity
The travel book is one that I am particularly proud. It features my very best photos from around the world that Caz and I have visited. The photos range from shots taken in England to fantastic shots taken in Cuba and NYC in December. In fact almost all the photos come from trips in 2006 and 2007 covering 12 countries and 18 cities which is an impressive stat to go with the photos.
I will try and get more of the book online but for now if you want to check out some of the photos please click here.
In the meantime wait for Christmas as a book {or two} may well be coming your way.

And here is me thinking I'm having a bad day...

“Malaysian doctors have reattached a man’s nearly severed penis after his first wife, enraged by his comparison of her sex skills with those of his younger second wife, decided to chop it off with a kitchen knife.
The man, a 43-year-old Indonesian worker in southern Johor state, was lying in bed with his 48-year-old wife talking about his newly wed second wife, who is in her 30s, when the incident happened, the New Straits Times newspaper reported.
Despite his shock and pain, the man managed to pull on his trousers and ride his motorcycle to a nearby hospital, where doctors had to put in 11 stitches to reattach the organ.
The man later complained to police, who arrested the woman and plan to charge her with voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, which carries the penalty of a three-year jail term and a fine, the newspaper reported.”

Facebook is just a personal arms race
0 Comments
So today is a half day in Hong Kong and as all my meetings are finished I have come home. And like millions of other people {and 131 friends of mine at the last count} I am busily updating and working on my Facebook account.
Caz asked me why I spend time on it - The simple answer is that is the personal version of an arms race. Examples include having more friends than my German rival/nemesis Jens Jaeger {ha! Only 61 friends at the last count}, its the simple fact that no Facebook member wants to admit; that they accept most people into their profiles after only fleeting meetings. Long term partners and friends of course make it into the list, and as they read about their friend they jealously scan their friends listing looking for people that they might know who they can sign up.
Secondly, Facebook is an arms race due to the fact that people have to show off their best photos showing them in ever more exotic locations/holidays/parties ect. The fact that you can in one click update your status only confirms this "Jens is in Zanzibar," "Amanda is recovering from an amazing party," the list goes on.
But now its has got worse, even pets are put into the mix in this race for superiority. Pooches are but pawns in this war for the best profile and most wonderful life.
Facebook has become little more than a PR exercise to many people. Now thats no bad thing, but I wonder where it will all end? I have no idea, but its back to updating my profile for me...

Updating web site to alibullock.com
0 Comments
Well big day here in Hong Kong {for a Sunday that is} I am finally moving the web site and all its contents from alib.co.uk to alibullock.com
This will combine my work site alibullock.com and alib.co.uk/work and my personal site alib.co.uk all into one.
I have done this for several reasons; one of the main reasons is one that I have lectured on several times, and that is it is critical to carefully manage your personal brand online.
As I am listed on Facebook as ali bullock and my email is ali bullock/gmail.com it makes a lot of sense to use the url alibullock.com and not alib.co.uk. So that is the main reason.
Of course this has been a chance to make various page updates and changes which have also been completed in this release but there are too many to list here {with the additional excuse that I can't be bothered} so check out the site and enjoy the photos:

Pandas: When will they all die?
0 Comments
So science tells us that Pandas should be extinct due to the fact they are lazy, fussy eaters and don't have enough sex.
I have another theory: Smoking. You can see by the picture on the right that this is the real threat to them. That and the constant flash bulbs that they are exposed to by all the tourists trying to take their photos at Ocean Park.
Lazy buggers should get some exercise and quit smoking. Thanks to Shanghai China Snippets for the heads up on this one.

Time to move on...
0 Comments
I am not of course talking about this blog or anything like that. I am however talking about our move into our new flat! Yes, finally we have moved into the new palace {AND I MEAN PALACE}
While I don't have any photos (yet..) I can tell you that its around 2,500 sq ft and the rent would be at least $10,000 (US dollars) a month (yes, you read that correctly). Luckily the flat is part of the British Consulate so we don't have to pay this.
How good are we? Caz is even trying to save tax paying money even though we are not in the UK. God bless her. If the queen ever thinks about retiring, I think she would make a fine monarch. You lucky people you...
So we love the flat, and as soon as we have all the furniture in and its tidy I will put up some photos. Yu have to see the view from our balcony, the Hong Kong skyline is quite something (Ok, I'll stop now)

My photos are {VERY} good, But these are {AMAZING}
0 Comments
Oh to have an ounce of the talent that these guys have to create these images.
... I would also need their patience as well.
The photo you can see is an example of their work. The "arms" are actually lights. The effect is achieved with low light photography.
Now if I was "back" in European marketing with a budget to spare I would use these guys for a campaign. I suspect that Nokia (again) will have stolen this idea and will be working with them soon. Damn their budgets!
